WALWe've made it to the end of the Beginner area. Before we celebrate, let's turn our skin folder into a WAL file. It's rather easy, and is the last step for any skin. Open up the folder containing the skin and using your archiver program, add all your files and subfolders to a ZIP file. Change the extension from .ZIP to .WAL and it's done. Make sure the WAL is in the Winamp3/Skins/ folder, and not still in your skin's folder. Also, you should probably name the WAL something different than the folder so that you can tell them apart in the Skin Menu. What We've AccomplishedCongratulations, we made it through the Beginner area of the Winamp3 Skinning Tutorial! We started with an empty folder and now have this functional skin:
To get here, we added Layers, Buttons, Sliders, and even a few MAKI scripts. If you want to review any of the topics we covered along the way, head back to the Beginner Table of Contents and pick what you would like to study up on. What Lies AheadWe've only begun to tap into the vast capabilities of Winamp3. While the skin works, there is still much more than can be done with it. We can add Animations, skin the other Components, create additional Layouts, make Color Themes, and eventually even write our own MAKI scripts. If you're ready to continue on and start the next level of skinning, go on to the Intermediate area. If not, then bookmark the site and we'll pick up where you left off when you're ready. |
